Faith Regional Health Services (FRHS) is searching for a Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer (VP/CNO) to join our Executive Team.  FRHS is a 166-bed regional referral center in northeast Nebraska that provides acute care, emergency, cardiovascular, cancer, orthopedics, acute physical rehabilitation, surgical, women and children’s services, and inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services.

 

The VP/CNO is a key member of the Hospital Executive Team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, and is accountable for all operational aspects of nursing services at FRHS, including nursing quality outcomes, efficiency, costs, patient satisfaction and medical staff satisfaction. The VP/CNO directs nursing and patient care services to ensure the delivery of high-quality and cost-effective healthcare consistent with the mission, vision and values of Faith Regional Health Services and in accordance with government regulations, licensing and accreditation requirements. The VP/CNO actively participates in the hospital’s strategic planning and contributes to the achievement of institutional goals and objectives.

 

In 2008, FRHS had over 7,000 patient discharges, 15,000 emergency department visits and 73,000 outpatient visits. Presently the hospital has 166 licensed beds.  In January 2010, FRHS will be opening its new patient room expansion that will offer all private rooms and increase bed capacity to 200 with the capability of adding another 30 to 40 rooms in the future.  FRHS employs over 1,200 staff, including physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals.

  • Operationally accountable for acute care, emergency/trauma, women and children, surgical, acute rehabilitation and transitional care, behavioral health, home health/hospice/palliative care, dialysis, long-term care and outpatient surgery center.
  • Identifies and articulates the vision and strategic direction for the discipline of Nursing and collaborates on the implementation of operational strategies/initiatives to achieve them.
  • Promotes and utilizes a patient centered approach.
  • Provides leadership and direction for the development of strategies to promote the recruitment, retention and recognition of excellence in Nursing, including oversight and recommendations regarding compensation and benefit programs for nursing staff.
  • Participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical programs and services, assuring appropriate resources for the delivery of care.
  • Creates win-win solutions among diverse needs and expectations.
  • Possesses excellent medical staff and clinical relationship development skills.
  • Able to create and sustain shared governance, employee satisfaction and customer service objectives.
  • Possesses strong affinity and desire for use of information technology (clinical documentation, CPOE, automated care plans, clinical decision support, compliance and quality) to support clinical workflow and process.

NURSING QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Active and current registered nurse license in the state of Nebraska.
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in advanced nursing administration.
  • Experience in new service development, service expansion and business development.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations, including Joint Commission.

 

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Relocation of nursing units to new facility.
  • Electronic medical record implementation.
  • Knowledge of principles and attributes of Magnet designation.
  • Development of regional service relationships.
  • Direct experience with planning, selection and implementation of clinical automation.
